STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:

Good day compatriots, my name is Nyong, Ikpe Ukana an indigene of Ikot Ekong one of the major oil producing community in Ikpa Ibom Clan Mkpat Enin L.G.A. I am a postgraduate student of the prestigious university of Uyo, my quest for knowledge and expansion of academic horizon motivated me to further my education after my first degree in the department of political science/public administration which I graduated with second class honors (Upper division).

However, I felt there was a need to advance my studies in order to add more values educationally due to my choice of career which is to venture into lecturing in the nearby future hence an Msc degree in public administration. However, my educational journey has suffered some sort of setback due to lack of finances occasioned by economic hardship which has delayed my stay in school for more than two academic session.

I don’t want to agree with Obafemi Awolowo when he said “That education is not for the poor” which means it is the rich or those financially capable that should embark on academic sojourn. Because times have revealed that there’s a need for a more educationally advance individuals in the society rather than the opposite. However, my low financial status has necessitated me to apply for these scholarship which will go a long way in helping me complete my program and move on to another adventure in life.

I sincerely appeal for your kind consideration under this scholarship scheme my compatriots, I’ll remain eternally grateful if my request meets your mind consideration.
